Elena Šataitė is a Lithuanian composer based in Vienna. Her music has been described as “a prodigious understanding of texture, movement and variegation as well as touching on ideas from across the compositional spectrum (Frank J. Oteri)”. Recent projects have focused on creating experiential music environments and sound tailored to visual arts, mixing live instruments with electronics.
She received several awards including the Young Composer of the Year (2016, Lithuanian Composers’ Union), the Artist Creator Status (2020, Lithuanian Ministry of Culture), and the Scholarship for Music Work (2020, Lithuanian Ministry of Culture). Her symphony Eremos was included in the album of Anthology of Lithuanian Art Music in the 21st Century (2017, created by Frank J. Oteri).
Elena’s music was performed at various international music festivals including “Two Days and Two Nights of New Music” (Ukraine), “Druskomanija” (Lithuania), “LT.art Wien” (Austria), “aNOther Festival Wien” (Austria). She contributed to the Vilnius Film Festival (“Kino Pavasaris, 2021”) as the music creator responsible for the festival’s musical identity. Elena has also participated in film scoring workshops and masterclasses at the Sibelius Academy (Finland), “Festival International du Film d’Aubagne” (France), and “Summer Media Studio” (Lithuania).
